Stress Management

What is it and when should I get some help?

Stress management is simply your ability to deal with the stress in your daily life.  Everyone’s life provides some level of stress and this usually fluctuates with changes in relationships, work, and family life.  Many of the emotional ups and downs we experience can be explained by the constant demands we face everyday at work, home, or just just checking out social media.  Because there are so many demands on your time and patience now more than ever stress management is crucial to having a meaningful and enjoyable life.  For those who are feeling the effects of stress including mood changes, irritability, not enjoying what used to be fun, or feeling constantly behind, you might want to address this with a therapist?

Your ability to manage stress impacts every aspect of your life, even if you aren’t aware of it.  The careers, partners, social interactions, and even hobbies you choose depend on your ability to manage difficult feelings and reactions when things don’t go as expected.  When we feel confident that we can manage the stress of daily life we engage with more people and feel less stress when things inevitably don’t go our way.  Stress management is also a key factor on the impact of anxiety, depression, mood swings, or any other type of mental health issue, and plays a key role in your quality of life no matter who you are.

My Approach

Men’s therapy can be complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. I strive to make it a simple and straightforward process that respects where you are and emphasizes where you want to go. All therapists are a little bit different, and for some clients, spending their sessions highly focused on processing feelings with little emphasis on moving forward isn’t helpful. This is something that speaks to me, and I’ve crafted my practice to cater to those clients. My sessions usually follow this structure:

Identify the issue

Explore how you feel about it

Work together to come up with a plan to enact positive change

Build the confidence and insight that will make change lasting and meaningful
